Meet the Teachers
Gina Kerchner, the program director, has been with St. Timothy’s for 27 years. A mother of four, she has a B.S. in Elementary Education. Her commitment to providing a safe, fun environment for the children to grow and learn is the starting point for St. Timothy’s program. In addition to her role as the program director, she co-teaches the 3-year-olds in the Panda Bear class. Gina also works closely with the school’s board, comprised of parents, to address on-going matters.
Susie Truckor has partnered with Karen Burleson as a co-teacher of both the 4 and 5 year old classes to nurture a creative learning experience for our students. Her B.S. in Elementary Education and 23 years of teaching at St. Timothy’s has made her a trusted resource for our students and parents over the years.
Karen Burleson joined the St. Timothy family from her position as a classroom aide for second graders. She majored in Business, but she could have easily been a zoologist as she is our resident animal lover. She has shared her love for animals with our students over the years by introducing them to such creatures as our class guinea pig, fish and even a hamster appropriately named Chubby. As the co-teacher of the 4 and 5 year-old classes, she has made countless connections with the children over her 15 years with the school.
Sue Shockey, a former kindergarten aide, has an Associates Degree in Elementary Education. She co-teaches both the Panda and Teddy Bear three-year-old classes. She has made a tremendous impact in her 17 years with the school. Her kindness is remembered by our “alumni” long after they graduate from the school.
Kerry Sunderland joined the teaching staff at St. Timothy’s after her three children completed the program. She spent her first three years as the co-teacher of the 2½ - 3 year-old class and is now a co-teacher of one of the 3-year-old classes. Her welcoming smile and easy nature invite her students to enjoy fun-filled days of learning. She has a B.S. in Business.
Patty Howe, whose two children have completed the program at St. Timothy’s, has been the co-teacher of the 2½ - 3 year-old program for the past 5 years. She goes out of her way to make the children feel comfortable as many of them are away from home for the very first time. She has a B.S. in Computer Science.
Becky Tartline, the newest addition to St. Timothy’s, is a co-teacher of the 2½ - 3 year-old program. Since her two children have already “graduated” from St. Timothy’s, she knows that St. Timothy’s teachers create a special place for students to learn, grow and explore – now she is a part of the experience. She has a B.S. in English and a Masters in English Education. In addition to her role at St. Timothy’s, she also teaches adults at Harrisburg Area Community College.
